1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing, downloading, or using the Open Translation Bible (OTB), whether from this website or from any official distribution channel, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree, you should discontinue use of the OTB immediately.

2. Open Licence

The OTB is published under an adjusted Open Source / Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike licence (CC BY-SA 4.0)

This means you are free to:

  • Copy and share the text in any format.
  • Adapt, translate, or build upon the text.
  • Use the text for personal, educational, religious, or commercial purposes.

Simple Attribution

  • For quotes: Simply mention "OTB" or "Open Bible" — that's sufficient.
  • For full books or large portions: Include a reference to the CC BY-SA 4.0 licence.

Share-Alike Requirement

Derivative works must be shared under the same licence. This is a feature, not a restriction — it guarantees that future versions and works built on the OTB will always remain free and open.

3. No Fees, Royalties, or Exclusive Rights

The OTB is provided free of charge. No person, organisation, or entity may claim exclusive rights, charge royalties, or restrict access to the OTB text. Derivative works must remain open under the same licence terms.

4. No Warranties

The OTB is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. This includes but is not limited to warranties of accuracy, reliability, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

5. Limitation of Liability

Under no circumstances shall the authors, contributors, or distributors of the OTB be liable for any damages or claims arising from the use, misuse, or reliance upon the OTB.

6. Intellectual Property

While the OTB text itself is licensed openly, the name "Open Translation Bible" and associated logos, branding, and website content may be protected by copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights.

7. Contributions

By submitting contributions to the OTB project, you agree to licence your contributions under the same CC BY-SA (or equivalent) terms.

8. Modifications to Terms

The OTB project maintainers may update or modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective upon posting to the official OTB website.

9. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and interpreted according to the laws of the jurisdiction in which the OTB project is primarily maintained.
